We are very lucky to have the library open and operating as it should in these times of Covid, social distancing and all things restrictive!

Working in conjunction with the English faculty and the Book Trust we are encouraging Year 7 students to choose a book as part of the Book  Buzz initiative  from a selection of superb titles – all for free and to keep forever!  Hopefully the books will arrive by the end of November but in the mean time students can borrow any of the books from the library.

The sponsored read – Readathon 2020– has now started and early indications show that lots of Year 7  and Year 8 students have taken up the challenge. There is a range of titles specially selected for this event available to borrow in the library but students are encouraged to read anything that takes their fancy. Remember that all monies raised goes to CAFOD.

The library has been transformed especially for Halloween with lots of bats, ghosts and pumpkins! There is a selection of spooky and thrilling books to get students in the mood for the 31st, in addition to a scary story time  with Halloween themed treats for Year 7s on Thursday 22nd October at 1.30pm . The event is free but students must get a ticket as spaces are very limited. Tickets are available in the library.

Finally it has been a joy to meet all the new Year 7s some of whom have been using the library regularly – to chill with friends, to read quietly on a beanbag, to browse the shelves or to avoid the rain!  Please encourage your child to come and visit us and see what we have on offer.
