Did you see St James’ on BBC Breakfast this morning? Mr Pontifex, Megan and Jacob took part in an interesting debate around the usage of mobile phones within schools. One school has taken the unusual decision to allow mobile phones in the classroom which they say aids their pupils learning.

Here at St James’ teaching and learning has always been at the forefront of everything that we do and we have a strict no phone policy.

When questioned on their views Head girl, Megan and Head boy, Jacob stated that by not allowing mobile phones, they are offered a welcome distraction from the technology and stops what could cause pressure from peers for pupils who might not have the most up to date devices.

Mr Pontifex agreed and added that this encourages human interaction and allows our pupils to remain in a safe environment.
